Don't you despise that you can no longer bring bottled water, Gatorade, or other liquids through airport security? The conspiracy theorist in me believes this prohibition continues only because airport vendors beyond security enjoy higher drink revenues as a result (especially at $3/water).
And not carrying your own water can lead to some less than sanitary drink offerings on a plane as many studies have demonstrated.
Here's a trick I learned to avoid the hassle of relinquishing your drink at security and spending wasteful dollars for water on the other side:
Bring an empty water bottle and refill it at a drinking fountain near the gate.
Re-using a bottle from home is the simplest option, especially since the soft plastic crushes easily when placed into an overstuffed carry-on.
You can bring your favorite hard plastic bottle instead, but it will take up more room and is not as easy to drink from.
Bottoms Up!
