Is there a better salad bar out there? I haven't found one. Admittedly, some Whole Foods are better than others. The two I have sampled in Chicago are far superior to the two I visited while in DC last month. No comparison. In fact, DC was probably the worst in terms of healthy protein and upscale veggie choices.
Anyway, that is not the point of my post. I love the Whole Foods salad bar. And when I travel, I especially appreciate the healthy meal option...that I create. I am a customizer. But, I am not a big fan of the salad dressing options. Aside from the vinegars, nearly every dressing is heavy in terms of fat and calories.
So here is an idea: Whole Foods should have a mustard dispenser along with the dressings. Maybe the mustard could be thinned a little so it can be applied easily...and rather than a Dijon, I think a hot/sweet blend would work best and be the most salad-versatile.
Sometimes, if there is a really yummy soup, I'll throw a little bit of that on my salad!
So, Whole Foods, if you're "listening" how about some mustard?

Ha! Why would someone buy an entire jar of mustard when at a salad bar?? The whole point is convenience and having the toppings available that are healthy and flavorful. Mustard qualifies. And Whole Foods' dressings are all rather fatty. Here are our Salad Dressing favorites -- all healthy and super tasty:
