Munich's subway is known as the U-Bahn. Its usefulness and efficiency rivals Manhattan's subway, London's Tube and Chicago's "L". Young kids ride it to school each day--alone! Locals ride it to/fro work. And, savvy tourists use it for nightlife and daytime attraction hopping. Costs vary, but for the most part the rail runs on the honor system--no checking.
