As I mentioned in my last blog, the tiny town of Sisters, Oregon (pop. 3,000) is a semi-annual destination for my wife, daughter and me. In-laws live just outside the quaint and friendly "Old West" town (and for a sports connection, Sisters is the present home of Hall of Fame Quarterback Dan Fouts too).
Until a few years ago, the town of Sisters had no health club, making frigid winter workouts a bit more challenging--the area is blessed with unbelievable trails, mountains and roads that are wonderful to explore on foot, bike, etc. during Spring, Summer and Fall.
Below-zero runs are no longer in my winter workout mix while staying here thanks to the opening of Sisters Athletic Club. The 19,000 square-foot facility has everything local athletic-minded types need and is my Christmas sweat headquarters--most of the time you'll find me there around 630am swimming laps in the 3-lane x 25-yard indoor pool.

But there are also plenty of other workout opportunities, including high-end cardio machines, weight equipment, classes and more. In the dry winter, the outdoor hot tub and steam rooms are popular spots as well. And, of course, the staff and members are friendly and welcoming to a fault.
