It took 7 years, but Chris McCormack finally got his victory. Congrats to Macca who passed Chris Lieto at the 7 hour mark and never looked back.
Relative unknown Chrissie Wellington of Great Britain led most of the bike and all of the run to finish first in her rookie Ironman Hawaii. Only 1 year ago Chrissie was competing as an age group athlete, became the age group champion in 2006, raced her first Ironman in Korea only 1 month ago and won...now she's won the biggest race in the sport. How's that for a year? She becomes the first from the UK to win Ironman Hawaii (male or female).
Congrats to all the Ironmen and women crossing the line under 17 hours -- you should be proud!

Extremely impressive !!!! In
Extremely impressive !!!! In this world of "youth" that is more and more overfat...using drugs.....doing crime.....and general laziness this story of an individual young woman is very inspireing and heart warming. Most people just look at the result...and do not appreciate the sacrifice of time and general life pleasures that it takes...to train for an "iron Man." I was just happy to finish it!! I wish her the just rewards of fame and "material comforts" for her magnificent efforts !!!!!! Sincerely Andre
