Ironman Hawaii: Perfect Conditions

As the native Hawaiian horns blow this morning announcing the start of the 2007 Ironman Championships, Mother Nature appears to be smiling. Kailua-Kona is forecasted to enjoy temps in the low to mid 80's, humidity in the 60%'s and SSE winds 10-15 mph. View a detailed forecast here.

These conditions bode well for the faster runners. Those strong on the bike, like last year's champion Norman Stadler, will not have heavy winds to help build his lead. Look for Chris McCormack or Rutger Beke to finish first with a spritely run -- assuming they manage their bike appropriately.

While German television is carrying the race live. Americans will have to settle for streaming internet coverage at Ironman Live. Still, the Ironman Live crew of Greg Welch, Bob Babbitt, Heather Fuhr and Paula Newby Fraser. Stay tuned!!
