Cheap yoga clothes no more. Marika Group files for bankruptcy.

One of our favorite listings under our Gear Up tab for San Diego was the outlet at the Marika Manufacturing facility. Fitness fanatics could find workout apparel for as little as $5! I don't think I've paid more than $10 for an item ever!

So several weeks ago when I heard that the outlet was going out of business, I wondered what that meant for the Group and the manufacturing facility based here. I confirmed via phone today that the Marika Group filed for bankruptcy in May and was subsequently purchased by Rock Fit LLC, a privately held apparel manufacturer.

So the Marika website is still there and now Marika is a registered trademark of Rock Fit. Unfortunately for San Diegans, the manufacturing facility has shut down, so no more deals on women's fitness apparel. Bummer.

Also despite some internet sleuthing I could come up with very little about the announcement and even less about Rock Fit.

It's a mystery to me. I even checked SignOnSanDiego to see if they ran any sort of news piece about it...found nothing.
